How we got here.
"We started UK Built because we were tired of watching homeowners get burned by builders who promised one thing and delivered another."
The two of us — Tom and Marcus — had spent ten years on the tools at other people's companies before that. We'd seen good projects go badly, and good clients get treated badly. So in 2013 we set up our own firm with a simple rule: say what you'll do, then do it.
That rule has shaped everything. It's why we don't quote low to win work and then load the variation orders. It's why we don't hide the programme until the day we can't meet it. And it's why most of our work — about 70% — comes from previous clients or referrals.
Twelve years on, we're a team of fourteen site staff plus a small office handling quotes, planning, and project management. We're still based in London, still working on the kind of projects we set out to do, and still answering our own phones.
